Our Story
Karma’s initial passion for bringing people together and a flare for blending flavours led him to bartending in the events industry, where he soon realised the detrimental effects of trying to sustain a high octane lifestyle while keeping the party going.
Believing we shouldn’t have to choose one or the other, Karma started to experiment with tinctures in his cocktails as a way to indulge and boost performance while reducing harm to the mind and body. He entered full time-education for the first time at Westminster University, studying for 6 years to gain his BSc in Western Herbal Medicine. This knowledge, combined with the practical treatments of patients at the University’s Clinic, gave Karma the building blocks to create herbal extracts that were not only delicious and 100% alcohol-free, but when carefully synergised, could mimic the desirable feeling to what we would usually turn to alcohol and other forms of recreation for.
Launching Karmaceuticals in 2022 as grassroots company has taken on no mean feat. From providing botanical themed cocktail bars at some of the UK’s largest festivals to developing an alcohol-free G&T in collaboration with Bristol Dry Gin. Our overarching goal is to eradicate the social divide based on what people decide to mindfully consume or not while providing a solution for those who love to have fun but also want to reach their full potential.
Our mission is to make herbal knowledge more accessible, giving more people the autonomy to take their health into their own hands. We will soon be introducing The KarmAcademy is a comprehensive educational platform designed to support anyone on their learning journey. Here, members of the public will be able to gain access to free practice exercises, engaging instructional videos, and a personalised learning dashboard. We hope that this will also become a valuable resource for certified Medical Herbalists.
As we work towards our B Corp certification, we are also extremely passionate about collaborating with and supporting Herbalists Without Borders[link], A non-profit organisation that provides free herbal healthcare to refugees and asylum seekers, addressing ailments like insomnia, anxiety, and low immunity. From a mobile dispensary, they offer in-depth herbal support, conduct self-care workshops and complementary medicine-making events.
We believe in the potential of herbal medicine to transform healthcare. So our aim is to eventually establish community clinics across the UK, offering free herbal consultations, with only the cost of the medicine to consider. We're committed to collaborating with the existing healthcare system to integrate this valuable complementary service into the mainstream.
